The Juvenile Courthouse hears all juvenile delinquency cases and dependency cases filed in Sacramento County. Delinquency cases involve crimes committed by minors under the age of 18. Dependency cases involve children who are alleged to be abused, neglected, or in need of protective services.

The Juvenile Courthouse has a number of divisions that handle different types of cases. The intake division is where all new cases are initially screened to determine which division will handle the case. The juvenile delinquency division hears all cases involving criminal conduct by minors. The dependency division hears all cases involving allegations of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation. The juvenile traffic court handles all cases involving traffic violations by minors.

The Juvenile Courthouse also has a number of support programs and services available to help juveniles and their families. The juvenile diversion program offers counseling and other services to juveniles who commit minor offenses. The victim witness program provides support and assistance to victims and witnesses of crime. The family law facilitator helps parents resolve disputes involving child custody, visitation, and support.
