Fall Crime

Typical Fall Crimes

If you are arrested for a Fall crimes or crime, you should contact a criminal lawyer and a bail bondsman.

They can help keep you out of jail and walk you through the criminal justice system. Remember that you must follow the judge’s rules to the letter. Failing to appear in court or follow any of the other rules the judge lays out may cause your probation to be revoked. If your bail is revoked, you will forfeit any bond money that has been paid.

Fall Crimes can happen at any time of the year. Some crimes, though, occur more frequently during different seasons. Crimes against property, for instance, seem to happen more frequently in summer. There are other crimes that happen more in the fall.

Motor Vehicle Theft

The United States Department of Justice conducted a survey over several years to determine the season during which certain crimes are most likely to occur. During half the years they studied, motor vehicle theft happened most frequently in the summer. During the other half of the years, the crime occurred more frequently in the fall. The U.S. Department of Justice could not explain why motor vehicle theft sometimes happened most often in the fall. It may be due to school being back in session or due to the easily available cars at large scale sporting events, such as football games.

Household Larceny

Larceny is the illegal taking of personal property from a home. Larceny does not involve the use of force, but the perpetrator does act with the intention of permanently depriving the owner of his or her property. Like motor vehicle theft, household larceny occurs with about equal frequency during the summer and the fall. Again, the U.S. Department of Justice does not speculate on why this phenomenon occurs. It may be because in the fall some people leave to go-to winter vacation homes in the south. This leaves their homes vulnerable to people who want to steal items.

Simple Assault

Simple assault consists of an attempt to cause physical harm or to cause a person to be afraid of an imminent battery. The perpetrator never actually puts his or her hands on the victim. Thus, simple assault is a misdemeanor. Simple assault occurs most frequently in the fall. This may be because school is starting again students are bullying each other with words, texts, social media, and emails. If the communication puts the other person in fear of being physically attacked, it may be considered a simple assault.

Sexual Assault

Sexual assault is a sexual act performed against the victim’s will. It includes behaviors like fondling and rape. Sexual assault also refers to touching someone who does not consent to be touched. Overall, sexual assault occurs more frequently during the summer months. On college campuses, though, officials see more sexual assaults in the fall than at any other time during the year. This may be because many students are leaving home for the first time. They may experiment with alcohol or other drugs that impair perception, judgment, and behavior. Although it is less true now than it has been in the past, boys may pledge fraternities that actually condone rape. Girls, for their part, may not have been taught how to say “no” or how to defend themselves physically.

These are the crimes that occur most frequently during the fall season, but as you know, crime can take place at any time of year. If you find yourself accused of a crime, a bondsman can help you stay out of jail until your case is settled.
