San Jose Main Jail

San Jose Main Jail is located at 180 W Hedding Street, San Jose, CA 95110. It is a medium security jail that houses pre-trial inmates and sentenced inmates who are waiting to be transferred to a state prison.

The jail was built in 1989 and can accommodate up to 886 inmates. The jail is run by the San Jose Police Department and employs around 350 people. Inmate services include educational programs, religious services, and recreational activities.

There are a number of ways to contact an inmate at San Jose Main Jail. You can call the jail at 408-277-4161 and leave a message for the inmate, or you can send a letter to the jail addressed to the inmate. The jail will forward all mail to the inmate, but it may take a few days for the inmate to receive it.

You can also visit the inmate at the jail. Visiting hours are from 9:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 2:00pm on weekends. You will need to have a valid photo ID to visit an inmate.

Inmate calls are collect calls and must be accepted by the person receiving the call. Fees for inmate calls vary depending on the carrier.

You can also visit the San Jose Main Jail in person. The jail is open from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Visiting hours are from 9am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors must have a valid government-issued ID card and must be listed on the inmate’s approved visitation list.
